Farmer Wants a Wife.

Journeying from Reality TV to Advocacy and Adventure

In the quiet of her journey, Brooke McCallum has woven a narrative that's as heartfelt as it is inspiring. A registered midwife and a spirited traveler, Brooke's recent appearance on "Farmer Wants a Wife" was just one chapter in a life marked by resilience, recovery, and a quest for love.

Brooke, you entered "Farmer Wants a Wife" with the sincere intention of finding a life partner. What drew you to the show?

“I signed up because I am genuinely looking for my person. After years dedicated to my career and overcoming a significant health crisis, I felt ready to build a life with someone, and the show seemed like the perfect opportunity to meet a compatible partner.”

What did you learn about yourself during your time on the show?

“It was a challenge, but you don’t grow from being comfortable, and I felt I did learn a lot about myself during the experience. This learning process helped me gain clarity on what I want in a relationship and fortified my self-confidence.”

Your ability to maintain composure and integrity during intense moments on the show has been admirable. Can you share your thought process during those times?

“There’s always a choice in how we respond to situations, especially challenging ones. I believe in taking the high road and staying true to who I am. Maintaining integrity and not just reacting in the heat of the moment was my guiding principle.”

Your style on the show has turned heads, particularly your choices of beautiful outfits from Spell. However, there's been social media chatter about your dress choices. How do you navigate such public scrutiny?

“I believe women's bodies should be celebrated, not scrutinized. I have a very womanly figure, and I love wearing clothes that embody my feminine energy. Spell’s designs resonate with me because they instill a sense of joy, beauty, and individuality, all while being perfect for making memories. Despite some negative comments, the support from communities like the 'Spell Sisters' has been uplifting. They appreciate the spirit with which I wear my clothes, reinforcing that fashion should be a source of joy and personal expression.”

After the show, did you reconnect with Bert?

“After filming, I took a reflective road trip and wrote Bert a letter. It was a heartfelt attempt to explore what we had experienced together in a more personal, unfiltered way. We did spend some meaningful time together on the farm, revisiting our connection without the pressures of the cameras. While we shared intimate moments and grew closer, ultimately, it wasn't meant to be. The experience, however, provided both closure and personal growth, helping me understand more deeply what I am looking for in a relationship.”

Can you tell us more about your work with remote indigenous women in the NT and how it has influenced your advocacy?

“Working in the NT with remote indigenous women, I witness firsthand the impacts of poverty, domestic violence, and homelessness. It's often heartbreaking to see women come in for childbirth without any belongings or necessary supplies like pads and baby items. There’s a charity that provides menstrual supplies and “mum bags,” and I think getting involved at a grassroots level to donate directly to these women would be incredibly beneficial. It’s crucial to support and uplift these women in any way we can.”

What are your dreams and aspirations for the future?

“I want to continue making an impact through my work as a midwife, and I'm keen to use my voice to raise awareness about the challenges women face in remote areas like the Northern Territory. I'm also passionate about travel and experiencing new cultures, which I hope to blend with my advocacy work.”

Brooke’s story is a testament to the power of resilience and the human spirit’s capacity to overcome. Whether in her professional duties as a midwife or her personal quest for love, Brooke continues to inspire and engage, promising to use her experiences and voice to make a difference.
